Benefits : Travel

Emirates Flights

This benefit only applies to Reality Plus membership options.

  •  Reality Plus members get a discount of up to 25% per ticket (depending on tier status), and are restricted to a maximum of two return flight bookings (Single membership option) and six return flight bookings (Family membership option) per 12-month rolling period.
  • The 12 month rolling period starts from the date the first flight is booked.
  • The discount is applied to the flight portion of the trip.
  • The discount only applies to economy class tickets.
  • The discount will only apply to flights booked up to nine months in advance.
  • Airport taxes are not discounted. Your discount will only be calculated on your fare portion.
  • A return flight must be booked two days’ prior to travel. No single flight bookings are allowed on this benefit. For the purposes of this benefit, a return flight consists of an outward and inward journey with the same start and end point (within the Emirates network), regardless of connecting flights.
  • All bookings and payments made on the Emirates Flights discounted offer cannot be changed to a different rate at the same cost. Members who wish to change a booking to a different date can only do this by contacting the Sanlam Reality Call Centre on 0860 732 548/9.
  • If a member changes a booking, the discount received for the initial booking will be lost, and an administration fee to make this change will have to be paid. If the new booking has a difference in flight-seat class, a further fee will be incurred. To avoid these additional costs, members must ensure their travel dates, travel companions’ personal details, and seat bookings are correct before completing a booking.
  • Payment may be made with another payee’s credit card. However, if the credit cardholder will not be travelling, then a copy of the card must be presented at check-in.
  • On the Single membership option, only the principal member may book and fly with Emirates.
  • On the Family membership options, the principal member and registered dependants may book flights on their own membership numbers. All registered dependants may fly without the principal member present. Specific benefit partner terms and conditions apply to bookings made by dependants.
  • Only one discount percentage relevant to the membership option booked under will be applied to all members and dependants within the same booking.
  • Misuse of this benefit constitutes fraud.
  • No name changes or dependant changes are allowed after booking.
  • Members must call the Sanlam Reality Call Centre on 0860 732 548/9 to update their dependant’s details.
  • The Emirates Flights service is available 24/7. Members can call or email their requests; in the case of a call, the agent will capture the detail of the request onto Telesave. The system will then generate an email if the request is to be referred to Tourvest, who will respond to the client within 24 hours. The response is subject to the complexity of the itinerary. In the event of an emergency, the call will be patched through to the Tourvest after-hours desk for immediate action.
  • Destinations in Saudi Arabia, the Maldives, Mauritius and the Seychelles are not included in the benefit due to travel conditions.
  • All passenger details (name and surname) should be spelled correctly as per the traveller’s passport and the date of birth must be correct. Please contact Sanlam Reality immediately to update the profile should anything be incorrect. Costs do apply for names booked incorrectly on all airlines.
  • You are solely responsible for obtaining and meeting the requirements for passports, visas, health documents, insurance, foreign exchange, Reserve Bank customs and immigration regulations and other peripheral requirements (“the Peripheral Requirements”). Passports are required for all travellers departing South Africa. Permanent residents travelling on a foreign passport must hold a South African Re-entry Visa. Many countries require that foreign nationals entering hold a passport with at least six months validity from the date of departure of the country visited. Tourvest may provide you (on request) with information in good faith in respect of the Peripheral Requirements, but due to the constant changing nature of such Peripheral Requirements, this should be treated as a guideline only. Tourvest accepts no liability for ensuring that the Peripheral Requirements are provided, nor shall Tourvest be liable for the accuracy of any information furnished by Tourvest in connection with the Peripheral Requirements or any failure by Tourvest to provide information relating thereto. Tourvest has available in its offices, the customer support service of an independent third party contractor (“Visa Services”), who will provide you with a professional visa advisory and procurement service. This service, should you elect to use same, is subject to a separate contractual arrangement with Visas Services and the payment of their quoted fees for the service in question.
  • Immigrations regulations on traveling with minors confirms that children must be in possession of an unabridged birth certificate and must have written permission from either parents or guardians authorising the child’s travel. Protea Hotels by Marriott®

This benefit only applies to Reality Plus and Reality Core membership options.

  • Reality Core members get a discount of up to 20% on accommodation bookings (depending on tier status), limited to a maximum of 15 room bookings (Single membership option) and 40 room bookings (Family membership option) per year.
  • Reality Plus members get a discount of up to 30% on accommodation bookings (depending on tier status), limited to a maximum of 15 room bookings (Single membership option) and 40 room bookings (Family membership option) per year.
  • All bookings are for a double room and a Saturday must be included in the reservation.
  • Bookings must be made at least 3 calendar days in advance of stay.
  • All bookings and payments made on the Protea Hotels by Marriott® discounted offer cannot be changed to a different rate at the same cost. Members who wish to change a booking to a different date can only do this by contacting the Sanlam Reality Call Centre on 0860 732 548/9.
  • If a member changes a booking, the discount received for the initial booking will be lost, and an administration fee to make this change will have to be paid.
  • On the Single options, the principal member may book accommodation in a double room for two guests (one of the guests must be the member).

  • Protea Hotel by Marriott Zebula Lodge is not included in the Sanlam Reality offer.
  • It is a legal requirement for Protea Hotels by Marriott® to collect the following documents from guests in terms of the immigration act:
    • A copy of the guest’s identification document or passport, containing a photograph of the guest. For South Africans, this could be a passport, South African ID or South African driver’s licence.
    • The guest’s full names and surname.
    • The guest’s residential address.
    • The guest’s residence status in South Africa.

Tempest Car Hire

This benefit only applies to the Reality Plus and Reality Core membership options.

Intercape Bus

This benefit is available to Reality Club members, and members with Wealth Bonus Lifestyle benefits.

  • The offer allows Reality Club members to buy two tickets per year at 50% discount per ticket (capped at R375 each).
  • The offer allows members with Wealth Bonus Lifestyle benefits to buy two tickets per year at 20% discount per ticket (capped at R150 each).
  • Discounts are available on all classes of tickets. Tickets are subject to availability.
  • When paying via EFT or bank deposit, the ticket will only be available once the payment has reflected in our account.
  • Tickets must be booked at least two days before departure.
  • Members can book specific seats on certain routes, where this option is available from Intercape Bus.
  • Tickets are subject to Intercape Bus’s regular terms and conditions of carriage, unless specified otherwise in this section.

Viya

This benefit is available to Reality Plus, Reality Core and Wealth Bonus lifestyle members. 

  • Reality Plus members receive a discount of up to 30% (depending on tier status) and are restricted to a maximum number of 35 room nights’ accommodation (Single membership) and 70 room nights’ accommodation (Family membership) within one calendar year. 
  • Reality Core members get a discount of up to 20% (depending on tier status) and are restricted to a maximum of 30 room nights’ accommodation (Single membership) and 60 room nights’ accommodation (Family membership) within one calendar year. 
  • Members with Wealth Bonus Lifestyle benefits get a discount of 5% on 8 room nights’ accommodation annually. 
  • A room night is defined as the following: 
  • For properties that accept bookings per room, a room night is defined as the number of nights multiplied by the number of rooms booked. 
  • For properties that are booked as a whole (eg. holiday home, cottage, apartment etc.), a room night is defined as the number of nights that the entire property has been booked for, regardless of the number of rooms in the property. 
  • To access the Sanlam Reality discount on Viya, you must be a registered member of Sanlam Reality. 
  • This benefit is available to Sanlam Reality members who comply with the T&Cs outlined by Viya and Sanlam Reality. 
  • Viya and Sanlam Reality reserve the right to modify or terminate any benefits or offers at their discretion.

This benefit is only available to Reality Plus and Reality Core, as well as members with Wealth Bonus Lifestyle benefits.

  • Reality Core members get a discount of up to 20% per ticket (depending on tier status) and are restricted to a maximum of 10 single tickets (Single membership option) and 10 single tickets (Family membership option) within one calendar year.
  • Reality Plus members get a discount of up to 30% per ticket (depending on tier status), and are restricted to a maximum number of 10 single tickets (Single membership option) and 10 single tickets (Family membership option) within one calendar year.
  • Members with Wealth Bonus Lifestyle benefits get a discount of 10% per ticket on 4 tickets annually.
  • Reality Plus and Reality Core members are eligible for discounts on lite, standard and business class flights.
  • Members with Wealth Bonus Lifestyle benefits are eligible for discounts on standard and business class flights only.
  • All bookings can only be made on the FlySafair website.
  • Members need to activate their Sanlam Reality benefit on the Sanlam Reality dashboard once they’ve logged in on the FlySafair website.
  • Sanlam Reality discounts apply to base fares only. Airport taxes and ancillary purchases are not eligible for discounts.

    will direct you to FlySafair Connect where they will help you book through other airlines. You will not receive the Sanlam Reality discount on these flights.

Uber Trips

This benefit is only available to Reality Plus and Reality Core members, as well as members with Wealth Bonus Lifestyle benefits.

  • The ongoing benefit is a discount of up to 30% on trips to and from these major airports: Cape Town, O R Tambo, Lanseria, Port Elizabeth and King Shaka international airports. The discount percentage is related to tier status and membership option.
  • The ongoing benefit is a discount of up to 30% on trips between 10pm and 4am anywhere in South Africa. The discount percentage is related to tier status and membership option.
  • On the Family membership options, registered dependants are also able to get Uber discounts using their own cellphone number.
  • The Uber benefit will only be available to Sanlam Reality members from the 1st day of the month after they’ve signed up as a Sanlam Reality member.
  • A maximum discount of R150 will apply when the discount offer is used.
  • Reality Plus members may use the discount on UberX and Uber Black vehicles; Reality Core and members with Wealth Bonus Lifestyle benefits may use the discount on UberX vehicles only.
  • Members with Wealth Bonus Lifestyle benefits may only use the discount after hours and will receive 20% discount with a maximum discount of R150.
  • Discounts cannot be applied in the Uber Lite app as it does not contain the wallet feature.

Bidvest Premier Lounges

This benefit only applies to the Reality Plus membership options.

  • Reality Plus members on the Bronze, Silver or Gold tier status enjoy free access to the Bidvest Premier Lounge, limited to 2 visits (Bronze tier status, Single membership option), 4 visits (Silver tier status, Single membership option), 10 visits (Gold tier status, Single membership option), 6 visits (Bronze tier status, Family membership option) 14 visits (Silver tier status, Family membership option) or 30 visits (Gold tier status, Family membership option) annually.
  • The Bidvest Domestic Lounges are situated in the following domestic lounges: OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg), OR Tambo Sky Lounge (Johannesburg), Cape Town International Airport (Cape Town), King Shaka International Airport (Durban), East London Airport (East London), George Airport (George), Port Elizabeth Airport (Port Elizabeth), Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (Mpumalanga).
  • The Bidvest International lounges are situated at: OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg), Cape Town International Airport (Cape Town), Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (Mpumalanga).
  • The member who enters the Bidvest Premier Lounge is not allowed to be intoxicated or to use abusive language on the premises. Such behaviour will result in the member being removed from the Bidvest Premier Lounge, and their access permanently revoked.
  • All members registered on the Family option may use the benefit.
  • Access is only granted for 90 minutes in a domestic lounge and three hours in an international lounge. Children up to the age of two who are accompanied by members making use of this benefit will be granted access at no charge from Bidvest.
  • Bidvest reserves the right to turn passengers away from the lounge if capacity is reached.
  • The family membership option entitles family members to lounge visits capped at the number of annual visits for the membership. For example, if you have a bronze tier status, your annual cap is four and the total combined number of visits by all members of the family is capped at four. A family of four can then visit the lounge all at once, or four times as an individual member.
