Privacy policy and security

As a Sanlam Reality member, you want absolute assurance that your personal information is safe and secure with us. We at Sanlam Reality are aware of this and we are committed to your privacy rights. We therefore outline our commitment to you here:

  • We will safeguard, according both to our own strict standards of security and confidentiality and to the relevant South African legislation, any information you share with us.
  • We will permit only authorised Sanlam and Sanlam Reality employees, who are trained in the proper handling of member information, access to your information.
  • Any employees who violate our privacy promise will be subject to our normal disciplinary procedure.
  • We will not reveal your information to any external organisation, unless we have previously informed you in disclosures or agreements; unless we have been authorised to do so by you, the member; or unless we are required to do so by law.
  • We will always maintain control over the confidentiality of your information.
  • We may, however, facilitate relevant offers from reputable companies. These companies are not permitted to retain any of your information, unless you specially express interest in their product services.
  • Whenever we hire other organisations to provide support services, we will require them to conform to our privacy standards and to allow us to audit them for compliance.
  • You hereby consent that your personal and financial information pertaining to your membership of Sanlam Reality may be shared directly or through a database operation with partners. Sharing of such information can be in such a detailed, abbreviated, or coded form as may from time to time be decided by Sanlam Reality or by the partners. Sharing of data is for the purpose of improving the Sanlam Reality service and/or benefits to members. This includes sending and/or receiving member data to and from partners.
  • Sanlam Reality will ensure that member information shared with partners only contain the minimum information needed for the purpose of sharing the data.
  • Sanlam Reality will process and protect your personal information as required by relevant laws and the constitution of the RSA. This may include medical, health, vehicle tracking and financial information. You have the right to ask us for a copy of your personal information and to update or correct it.
  • We collect, process, collate, store, analyse and disclose personal information for the following purposes:
    • Improving the service, tier points and benefits to members
    • To comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including applicable codes of conduct in our industry;
    • To protect Sanlam Reality’s interests; and
    • Any purposes related to the above.
  • When you call the Sanlam Reality call centre at 0860 732 548/9, you agree for Sanlam Reality to record your call for security reasons, client care, and compliance with various laws. However, Sanlam Reality respects your privacy and your personal information, and takes reasonable precaution, in accordance with our privacy policy, to protect your personal information and to keep it confidential, even when you are no longer a member of Sanlam Reality.
  • Information transmitted via the Internet or other networks, whether wireless or otherwise, may be subject to interception. Sanlam Reality therefore takes all reasonable precaution to ensure that your use of Sanlam Reality is secure, but is not liable for any loss, of any nature, that you may suffer because of your using Sanlam Reality.

  • While Sanlam Reality will make every effort to regularly update the information on the Sanlam Reality website, Sanlam Reality does not represent or warrant, whether expressly or impliedly, as to the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the information on any of its website pages and is not bound, in any manner, by such information.
  • Sanlam Reality reserves the right to change or discontinue any benefit described on the Sanlam Reality website at any time and without notice.
  • Sanlam Reality is entitled to change, suspend, or discontinue Sanlam Reality at any time at its sole discretion. However, you will be notified of this within a reasonable time of these changes being made.
  • Unless expressly stated in writing, no information provided by Sanlam Reality is or is intended to be advice of any nature, whether financial, legal, or otherwise. No information provided by Sanlam Reality replaces or relieves you of the obligation to seek and obtain the services of a professional financial, legal, or other professional advisor, nor is it intended to do so.
  • None of these Sanlam Reality terms and conditions can be waived, amended, added to, or deleted, unless such waiver, amendment, addition, or deletion is put in writing . You will be notified of this within a reasonable time of these changes being made. Neither Sanlam Reality nor you is/are bound by any express or implied term, representation, warranty, promise, or the like not recorded herein, whether it induced the agreement and/or whether it was negligent or not.

Law governing our relationship

These Sanlam Reality terms and conditions must be interpreted and enforced according to the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Other

  • If any of these Sanlam Reality terms and conditions are held to be unenforceable for whatever reason, such terms and conditions are severable from the remaining Sanlam Reality terms and conditions, which continue to be valid and enforceable.
  • Sanlam Reality may amend these Sanlam terms and conditions from time to time. Such amended terms and conditions will be available on the Sanlam Reality website and will be posted or emailed to you on request. Sanlam Reality is entitled to assume that you agree to be bound to an amended version of the terms and conditions. If the amendments are unacceptable to you, you may cancel your Sanlam Reality membership within 7 (seven) days from having received notice of such amendments.
