How do I use the Trauma, Assault & HIV Assist benefit?

The Trauma, Assault & HIV Assist benefit gives you access to a free, 24-hour counselling and medical hotline. You can use this benefit by calling 0860 00 7325 seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Follow the voice prompts for this benefit.

What is defined as assault?

Assault is defined as bodily injury sustained by violent external and visible means.

Which membership options qualify?

This benefit applies to Reality Club and Wealth Bonus Lifestyle for Sanlam Corporate members.

What does the benefit cover?

Receive 24/7 expert support for trauma, assault or accidental or violent exposure to HIV. Depending on your needs, you may receive medical treatment, psychological counselling or advice and information.

Trauma & assault

Your support includes medical treatment for bodily injury if required.  In the case of trauma, the member will receive psychological counselling from a public trauma centre or a private institution. A member may call the helpline in the event of any of the following happening to them or a close family member:

  • Rape
  • Hi-jacking
  • Child abuse
  • Suicide or death of close family members
  • Domestic violence and/or abuse
  • Kidnapping / Abduction
  • Woman abuse, etc
  • Armed robbery and assault

HIV counselling and support

HIV counselling and support is available to those who have had accidental or violent exposure to HIV. You or your affected family members have access to:

  • Hospital care, treatment and diagnostic regimes for the management of the consequences
  • Psychological counselling
